Apple upgraded its MacBook Pro lineup with new processors and graphics adapters, speedy Thunderbolt I/O technology and a new FaceTime HD camera.
Coupled with the latest dual-Core and quad-Core Intel processors, the new MacBook Pro family will be twice as fast as the previous generation, Apple claims.
The entry price is set at 1,199 US$ for the 13″ MacBook Pro. This computer includes Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual-Core processors up to 2.7 GHz and Intel HD Graphics 3000, while the bigger 15″ and 17″ models will sport quad-Core Core i7 processors up to 2.3 GHz and AMD Radeon HD graphics processors with up to 1GB of video memory for high performance gaming, pro video editing and graphics intensive applications.
The new MacBook Pro series will be the first computer family on the market to include Thunderbolt I/O technology, developed in cooperation with Intel; Thunderbolt allows expandability never seen before on a laptop, by means of two bi-directional channels with transfer speeds up to 10Gbps each, Thunderbolt will ensure PCI Express connections directly to external high performance peripherals such as RAID arrays, and can support FireWire and USB consumer devices and Gigabit Ethernet networks via adapters.
