Intel Greets Thunderbolt

February 24, 2011 by | Comments

Minutes after Apple‘s new MacBook Pro family announcement, Intel Corporation announced the immediate availability of Thunderbolt technology, a new high-speed Personal Computer peripheral connection platform that couples high-speed data transfer and high-definition (HD) display on to a single cable.
Boasting 10Gbps speeds, Thunderbolt technology can deliver a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds!!! The technology, co-developed with Apple, hits the streets with Apple‘s new family of MacBook Pro notebook computers.
The key behind Thunderbolt technology is to transfer media faster, simplify connections between devices, and enhance new ways to build and use PCs.  Thunderbolt technology delivers this via two communications methods, PCI Express for data transfer and DisplayPort for displays.
